Domenico Gammaldi

In 1975 he graduates with honors in Political Science at the University of Naples; he collaborates with CNR on issues of economic history of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and in 1976 he specializes at the School of Economic Development in Rome; in the same year he is hired at the Chamber of Commerce of Alessandria. In 1978 he joined the Bank of Italy where he held various positions in banking supervision and surveillance of payment systems; since January 2013 he has been head of the Supervision Service on markets and payments system. During his activity, he represented the institute in several national and international groups: Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI), Financial Innovation Network (FIN) within the Financial Stability Board, Market Infrastructure and Payments Committee (MIPC) at the European Central Bank and he was Co-Chair of the Standing Committee on Payment Services (SCPS) at the European Banking Authority for the development of activities related to the introduction of PSD2. From December 2016 to 2019 he was Co-Chair of the CERTFin (Italian Financial Computer Emergency Response Team).  He has a long experience in activities of technical cooperation and assesment of international supervisory and oversight principles in missions of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. He left the Bank in October 2019. He is a strategic advisor to the CEO of PagoPA.He does volunteer work at Il Fiore del deserto in Rom.
